In 2006, the minimum energy efficiency standards changed from 10 to 13 SEER. Most homes built in the last 10-15 years, or air conditioners and heat pumps replaced during this time frame, are most often 10 SEER equipment. That means by upgrading to the minimum standard, the efficiency levels improve up to 30%.
Broan offers 13, 14, and 15 SEER packaged systems. Package systems differ from traditional central systems in that the entire system, including blower and coil, are located together, and sit outside the home, on a slab or roof. A traditional system will have the coil and blower inside the home, and the condensing unit outside the home. In some applications, packaged systems are the preferred choice.
Broan offers a variety of packaged system depending on the application requirement. A packaged air conditioner is designed to only cool the home. In hot climates, where there are very few cool days, a heater kit accessory can be installed to take the edge off during that time. A heat pump provides both electric heating and cooling for year-round comfort. A gas/electric pack provides gas heating and electric cooling for all seasons too. And the Broan iHybrid™, is a dual fuel packaged system that provides both gas and electric heat. It also cools your home during the summer. The dual fuel system features four stages of heating and two stages of cooling for the most comfortable experience in the package line.
