BROAN AIR HANDLERS AND COILS
Making your new comfort system perform at its best efficiency
Air Handlers or indoor coils (which connect to the furnace) are the indoor section of the split system heat pump or air conditioner. So, when you replace your outdoor section you should be replacing your indoor section with a matched coil or air handler. A matched system means it has been tested and rated for its combined performance. This is then certified by the Air Conditioner, Heating and Refrigeration Institute (www.ahrinet.org) and registered in their database.
In fact, if you purchase a new outdoor system and do not replace your indoor coil or air handler, you will find that most manufacturers will void the warranty. This is because an older coil or air handler can hinder performance resulting in reduced efficiency performance, and even worse, a failed compressor making your new unit inoperable. Systems that are unmatched can be problematic as well. A matched system identifies products that were designed to work together to reach a specific performance level.
